I DESIGNED THESE GAMES OUT OF FRUSTRATION IN TRYING TO LOCATE SOME OLD HEX MAP GAMES I USED TO HAVE 15 YEARS AGO OR SO. THESE GAME DESIGNS BELOW EVENTUALLY BECAME (FRANKLY) SUPERIOR AND EVOLVED TO THE POINT THAT I WON'T BOTHER TRYING TO LOCATE THESE ORIGINAL GAMES.

RULES FOR ALL GAMES ARE SET UP WITH QUICK-START INSTRUCTIONS (TO GET THE HANG OF THE GAME) AND THEN OPTIONAL RULES YOU CAN MOVE ON TO ADDING REALISM AND MORE FUN.

VORTEX
ORIGINALLY I WAS GOING TO MAKE THIS A GAME FOR MY LITTLE BRAT AND I TO PLAY BUT IT GOT SO INVOLVED I THOUGHT I WOULD TURN IT INTO AN ADULT OR "EVERYONE" GAME INSTEAD OF A KID'S GAME. MULTIPLAYER GAME SET IN A WIERD WORLD WHERE ALL HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE SHAPES. EACH PLAYER HAS AN ARMY OF FIGHTERS LED BY A WIZARD AND HIS APPRETICES. MOVE OVER VARIOUS TERRAINS AND THRU FIXED AND "FLOATING" VORTEXES THAT ALLOW YOU TO TRANSPORT THRU AND EMERGE FROM OTHER SIMILAR OR DIFFERENT VORTEXES (AS DESCRIBED IN THE OPTIONAL RULES). FIGHTERS ATTACK BY CHANGING SHAPES INTO 3 ELEMENTS REPRESENTED BY SIMPLE "ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS" INSTEAD OF THE DICE IF YOU WISH. THE WIZARDS AND THEIR APPRETICES HAVE MORE EFFECTIVE ATTACKS. PLAYERS TRY TO SECURE VORTEX AREAS TO GAIN ADVANTAGES. OPTIONAL RULES ALLOW REBUILDING OF ARMIES OR EVEN DESCRIBE HOW SOME OF YOUR FIGHTERS CAN BE TURNED INTO "BERSERKERS" (I LIKE THAT TERM) TO BE USED AGAINST YOU OR ANYONE. A LOW RES SAMPLE OF THE THE MAP IS SHOWN BELOW. THE RED BORDERS ON THE VORTEX MAP INDICATING THE "PRINTED" PART OF EACH PAGE ONCE THE WHITE BORDER IS TRIMMED OFF.


COLLATERAL DAMAGE
MULTIPLAYER FUTURISTIC TECHNICAL WAR GAME (THE TITLE I THOUGHT UP LONG BEFORE THE ARNIE MOVIE). LAND AND DEPLOY PRODUCTION FACILITES AND ROBOTIC UNITS ON A REMOTE MOON AND MOVE OVER VARIOUS TERRAINS TO SECURE AREAS RICH IN RESOURCES AND FIGHT OFF OPPOSING PLAYER'S UNITS, REPAIR AND CONSTRUCT MORE UNITS AND ELIMNATE OPPOSING PLAYERS. BUILD MODULAR CUSTOM UNITS CONSISTING OF VARIOUS WEAPONS AND TRANSPORTATIONS AND TAKE OVER OPPONENTS' UNITS WITH ELECTRONIC INFILTRATION DEVICES, FIGHT OFF ROGUE BERSERKER UNITS, PLANT MINES, CALL NUCLEAR STRIKES OR OTHER ATTACKS FROM YOUR ORBITING MOTHER SHIP, ETC (NOTE THE DIAGONAL ORBIT PATHS OF THE MOTHER SHIP TO INDICATE POSSIBLE STRIKE ZONES). THE WEATHER ON THIS MOON IS HOSTILE AND UNPREDICTABLE - NOTE THE REDDISH AND GREENISH AREAS ON THE MAP- EACH OF THESE INDICATED ZONES CAN BE STRUCK WITH A RANDOM, DIFFERENT TYPE OF STORM THAT AFFECTS UNITS IN DIFFERENT WAYS. REFER TO THE "VORTEX" GAME BELOW FOR MAP CONSTRUCTION, BUT BASICALLY THE MAP IS MADE BY TRIMMING THE BORDERS OF EACH PAGE (THE WHITE NON-PRINTABLE PART OF THE PAPER) WITH SCISSORS OR KNIFE/STRAIGHT EDGE) AND GLUEING EACH PAGE SIDE-BY-SIDE (3 ROWS OF 6 PAGES FOR THE 32x48 MAP). THE RED BORDERS ON THE VORTEX MAP INDICATING THE "PRINTED" PART OF EACH PAGE ONCE THE WHITE BORDER IS TRIMMED OFF.



INTRUDERS
WORK AS A TEAM (YET COMPETE AGAINST EACH OTHER) TO INFILTRATE A SPACESHIP, ELIMINATE ALIENS, RESCUE SURVIVORS AND EVACUATE BY ESCAPE PODS. VARIOUS WEAPONS AND POSSIBILITIES MAKE THIS A CHALLENGE AGAINST OTHER PLAYERS AND AGAINST TIME. A LOW RES SAMPLE OF THE THE MAP IS SHOWN BELOW.
